What Lies In The Past

I could barely stand, not with the dignity I have left.
I shut the curtain, break the mirrors, curled in the last fortress I know.

It's haunting, preying from the shadows, coming when I let my guards down.
It's always been there, never letting me go.

I learnt to forgive, still it lingers
I learnt to forget, still it strikes
I learnt to move on, still it catches up.

Let me have the scars,
Let me see those pains,
Let me bleed
And let me be.
